Many never ponder just how much history shapes our thoughts and actions, or even our nation and world. But one man did. In the middle of the twenty-first century, a man named Henry Betterman devised a system to democratically rid the world of its inherent dark history allowing it to grow in a more positive, prosperous way. Two centuries later, the World works together as one, wars are nearly nonexistent, and poverty is next to extinct. Young adults are taught how the great Betterman system accomplished this and continues to keep the World in check. Maxwell Botier, a proud, impassioned history and Betterman professor at the Univerisity of Nevada Fallon, enjoys teaching this great system each semester. However, when a scrap of old newsprint surfaces, he soon embarks on a risky quest. As Botier begins secretly researching this newfound treasure, he must be cautious, as the Betterman system, in all its magnificence, also carries with it harsh penalties for those who would attempt to undermine it.
About the Author
Patrick Abanathy grew up in western Kentucky where he received his bachelor’s degree in print journalism and photography from Murray State University. He spent six years in Nevada working as a writer and photographer for the Mason Valley News in Yerington. He currently resides with his wife, Elizabeth, in western Kentucky. “Betterman” is Patrick Abanathy’s first novel.
